Summary
Are you aged 14 to 30 and want to learn new skills to help you become a green leader?Detailed description
Our Youth Volunteering opportunities will support a route to employment in the Green Economy through experiences, skills, training and career development opportunities.
Come and make your mark in our Park!
At the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we have two youth volunteering opportunities available:
· Dales Action Days are volunteering experiences available to young people, aged 14-26. These might be one-off days for groups, or are part of a wider programme of volunteering over a set number of sessions.
· Up Skill, Down Dale is aimed at young people, aged 14 – 30 who would like to develop their knowledge and confidence by getting involved in skilled volunteer placements in a number of different areas of the Authority.
For both programmes, we have a range of volunteering placements to choose from.
These opportunities include, but are not limited to:
Ranger team placements include volunteering to build our limestone walls in the Parks, maintain paths and woodland or tree planting.
Education and Engagement team placements consist of supporting the delivery of sessions to primary and secondary children.
Conservation team opportunities involve conducting surveys for bee or dormice populations, ringing birds, monitoring butterfly populations or volunteering on the farm.
Communications placements include writing blogs about the Parks, contributing to our social media outlets and photography placements.
Youth Representatives. We are offering the opportunity for two youth volunteers to join the Management Plan Steering Group, to advocate for young people and influence change and decision making in the National Park.
As well as these opportunities you will be supported by our group mentor, Caroline who will be with you on your journey, as well as expert tutorship from specialist YDNPA staff.
